Dr. Smith

Dr. Smith’s passion for dentistry allowed him to realize that one field of study was not enough, so he sought out a program that would be both challenging and allow him training from multispeciality doctors. Realizing they were very few that offered this specific type of training, he applied and matched at one of the top programs in the US, which did offer the caliber of training he sought. Dr. Smith furthered his education at the University of Texas Health Science Center where he received training in an Advanced Dental Residency.

Dental Clinic in Clute, Texas

We know that your time is valuable. For this reason, we have developed a system that is efficient and streamlined, without scrimping on the high quality that meets our commitment to excellence. We employ several technologies and techniques to make your visits run smoothly. One way in which dental treatments can be completed more quickly – and more comfortably – is with sedation. Studies show that relaxation with sedation leads to faster treatment, less anxiety, and improved post-treatment comfort.

Efficiency in care also comes from our use of the latest technologies and procedures, even our scheduling procedures. When you book your appointment with us, you can know that we will be ready for you when your appointment time arrives. We do our best to accommodate your busy schedule and are available to provide emergency dental care when needed.

Procedures at Woodshore Family Dentistry

We provide a range of different dental treatments and procedures at Woodshore Family Dentistry. Please go through our list of dentistry services below.

General Dentistry

These refer to procedures related to the prevention and diagnosis of dental issues.

  • Preventative Dentistry: Dental treatments and procedures such as teeth cleaning and oral exams that help you prevent dental diseases from occurring. We also look out for warning signs of dental issues and treat them at their initial stages.
  • Teeth Cleaning: The dental hygienist or dentist cleans your teeth and oral cavity thoroughly to remove all accumulated plaque, tartar, and get rid of all bacteria. This ensures that you don’t suffer from gum disease. You should get dental deep cleaning done regularly.
  • Oral Cancer Screening: This is usually done along with a general professional teeth cleaning procedure. The dentist runs various physical examinations, visual examinations, and screening tests to look for signs of oral cancer such as precancerous lesions, lumps, and red marks. If you diagnose oral cancer early, it’s easier to treat.
  • TMJ/TMD: Temporomandibular joint is located on the sides of the face and it connects the jaws to the rest of the head. Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) is a condition in which this joint malfunctions, which can lead to various issues like bruxism, jaw stiffness, soreness, etc. We identify the root cause of TMD and treat it accordingly.
  • Scaling & Root Planing: During the scaling procedure, we use a scalar device to remove all of the accumulated plaque and tartar from your teeth. During the root planing procedure, we smoothen the root surface and reattach your tooth to the gums to restore oral health.
  • Pediatric Dentistry: We also have a specially trained pediatric dentist who can deal with complications specific to kids such as dental caries and other issues that come up during the transition from baby teeth to permanent teeth.
  • Bruxism/ Teeth Grinding: Bruxism, also known as teeth grinding, is an issue in which you keep grinding and clenching your teeth and jaws unconsciously. This can happen because of malocclusion, stress, and various other causes. It can severely damage your teeth and lead to insomnia. We diagnose the root cause of bruxism and treat it accordingly. We also provide mouth guards that you can wear to minimize the adverse effects of teeth grinding.

Cosmetic Dentistry

These are procedures that aren’t necessary from a medical standpoint but they enhance your overall cosmetic appearance and improve your confidence.

  • Orthodontics: These are treatments or procedures that help with the proper alignment of your teeth and jaws. You have to wear special appliances that apply pressure on your teeth and gradually push them in the desired direction for proper alignment. These include braces and clear aligners.
  • Teeth Whitening: This is a procedure in which the dentist applies a hydrogen peroxide gel to your teeth and then channels a special kind of light to bleach your teeth and remove all surface stains.
  • Zoom In Office: This an advanced form of professional teeth whitening procedure. The dentist uses a zoom whitening gel and a zoom light to catalyze the bleaching process.
  • At-Home Whitening: We can also design whitening trays or kits that you can use at home. You simply apply the whitening gel on the tray and wear it for a few hours every day to brighten your smile.
  • Dental Veneers: If you’re suffering from various dental issues, we can provide veneers that can cover up all the issues. The dentist has to remove some of your surface enamel and attached the veneers to transform your smile.
  • Gingivectomy: If you have excess gum tissues that result in a “gummy smile”, we can remove some of that surplus gum tissue to give you a more aesthetic smile.
  • Lumineers: These are ultra-thin 2-millimeter veneers that the dentist simply has to attach over your existing teeth without changing your original teeth at all. It transforms your smile and is reversible.

Restorative Dentistry

These are the services we provide to restore the proper aesthetics and functionality of your teeth.

  • Dental Crowns: These are covers that can be placed over your existing teeth to either strengthen them or completely transform their appearance. Your original teeth have to be filed down to a small size so the dental crown can fit over them.
  • Dental Bridges: These are a series of fake teeth supported either by a dental crown on both sides or by dental implants. They’re one of the best replacements for missing teeth.
  • Dental Implants: This is a procedure in which a metallic post is attached to the jawbone underneath the empty socket of the missing tooth. Your jawbone grows around the post and firmly roots it. Dental crowns or bridges are then attached over the post. This is the best replacement for teeth.
  • Tooth-Colored Fillings: When you suffer from cavities due to bacterial decay, the dentist uses tooth-colored materials such as porcelain or composite resin to fill up the cavity and prevent further decay.
  • Root Canals: If the bacterial decay enters the pulp chamber, then the dentist has to perform a root canal during which they remove the infected pulp and dead nerves to prevent the infection from spreading.
  • Dentures & Partials: Dentures are devices that you wear on your mouth to replace your missing teeth. Full dentures can replace your complete set of teeth and flexible partial dentures only replace some of your teeth. Dentures are removable devices.
  • Gum Disease: When you don’t go for regular dental cleaning appointments, the food particles in your mouth can turn to plaque and tartar, which attracts bacterial infection. Gum disease can lead to weakened or sensitive gums, bone loss, and even tooth loss. We treat gum disease with a simple scaling and root planing procedure.
  • Bone Grafting: If you don’t have sufficient bone structure in your teeth due to tooth loss, we use grafting material from external sources to facilitate bone regeneration. This regenerates your jawbone so you can get dental implants later if you want.

Others

These are some of the other treatments and procedures we also provide at Woodshore Family Dentistry.

  • Guided Tissue Bone Regeneration: These are restorative procedures during which we use soft membranes and bone grafting material to aid in the regeneration of soft gum tissues and bone that may be lost due to gum disease.
  • Osseous Surgery: If the bacterial infections spread to your bones, the dentist uses osseous surgery to remove the infected bone and prevent the infection from spreading.
  • Occlusal (Bite) Adjustment: If you’re suffering from misalignment of teeth or malocclusion, we can provide various treatments like orthodontics, splints, or complete mouth reconstruction to ensure perfect alignment of teeth.
  • Ridge Preservation: We recommend this treatment after a dental extraction because it helps us preserve your bone structure (the alveolar ridge), which would otherwise disintegrate without a tooth to support. This also allows you to get dental implants later without complications.
